Whistling and blowing into golden tongues, a harmonica based sculpture I built for this occasion, I was thinking about questions of intimacy, fragility, solitude and masculinity. With images of shepherds and cowboys in mind, call seeks to explore the double-meaning of whistling as both a means of communication and a kind of inward-performative sonic practice, a sound one produces only for oneself. Playing in dim light, I was illuminated by my lantern (europa) and lantern (tillerman), sitting on a steel pedestal by Teuta Jonuzi.
