This piece makes itself present in a space through an occasional soft ringing. Sounding brass bells result from the movements of a modified speaker, that takes on the role of a sort of shaker through low inaudible frequencies. Further bells are installed in various niches and corners of the space, articulating its form and infrastructure. Occasionally, people would step on some, creating an accidental sonic dialogue with the piece and its surrounding. The structure that holds everything together is partly assembled from components of old office desks from the social ministry of Graz. While the bells point to images of shepherds/herds or fools/jesters, the work also follows a play on the idea of a work as a kind of infrastructure.
In other contexts, such as my performance call, the work also serves as a display for my instrument sculpture golden tongues, sometimes including the speaker, sometimes not, depending on the occasion.
