Whistling and blowing into golden tongues, a sculpture based on three deconstructed harmonicas and small bells, call comes out of thinking about questions of intimacy, fragility, solitude and masculinity. With images of shepherds and cowboys in mind, the work seeks to explore the double-meaning of whistling and humming as both means of communication and kinds of inward-performative sonic practices, sounds one produces only for oneself. Rather than a finished piece, call is a work that adapts itself to a space and can incorporate a variety of sculptures, electronic sounds and installative gestures to shape its given stage.
