Distant Lover is a piece circling around questions of intimacy, communication, sonic corporeality and the voice. Loosely incorporating quotes from the myth of Echo and Narcissus, as written in Ovid's Metamorphoses, the piece plays out as a phone call between two lovers in a long distant relationship. However, only one voice is audible, almost as if the call was directed to the audience. Just like media of communication allow us to transform and spatialize our voices and bodies, the instruments take up and transform the recorded voice of this piece.
