witch mask, pewter, burnt financial records from 2014 from a local business
2024
The work consisted of two site-specific interventions, developed for Golden Hour Handshakes, curated by Nanna Kaiser and Hanna Besenhard.
1.
At the time of the install, a local business that supported the exhibition burned their financial documents in a backyard after their 10-year retention period had expired. I collected and installed the ash in the exhibition space after.
2.
I made a pewter tooth for a witch mask missing one. Belonging to the local Perchten association, it probably broke off during one of their annual Perchenläufe, a folkloric tradition, meant to drive out the evil spirits of winter. The mask was shown inside-out as part of Golden Hour Handshakes. After the exhibition, the mask was returned with its new tooth.
